What leadership qualities do you possess that complement your personality?
Compassion – Liking people is one of the most important leadership “competencies” or traits. If you truly care about people and want to see them succeed, they will be able to sense it in their cores and want to follow you. That’s difficult to fake.
Character – Improving your character may significantly enhance your capacity to be a strong leader because it leads to more emotional intelligence. Connecting and leading people becomes considerably easier when you are aware of and understand your own emotions as well as the feelings of others.
Self-control – You may be a wonderful leader if you can keep your emotions in check and utilize them to propel yourself and others around you. You’ll be well on your way to being an excellent leader if you want to be one but can’t control your spending, drinking, gambling, or other undesirable behaviors.
What is the best way for you to improve your leadership abilities?
Read on a regular basis – Although it’s an accepted truth that “leaders are readers,” it’s a reality. Before I wrote my first book, I read hundreds of volumes each year. When I was only 13 years old, I started reading books like How To Win Friends & Influence People, which is why I’m where I am now.
Communication – You may be aware that I survived brain cancer. For a brief time, I was unable to communicate properly, but learning to converse and form relationships with others every day has been extremely beneficial in running businesses and negotiating commercial deals. If you aren’t a confident speaker, speaking clubs like Toastmasters might be an excellent method to learn how to deliver powerful speeches.
What would you like to say about leadership in general?
I think that leaders are made, not born. Anyone has the potential to become a leader if they want to be one. However, it takes a lot of courage, compassion, hard work, and dedication to become an effective leader.
Influence – People who are close to you will help determine who you become. It’s only natural for you to adopt the traits of successful individuals if you spend time around them. As the saying goes, “You are who you hang around with.” So, be very deliberate about the company you keep if you want to become a great leader.
How do you make your team unstoppable?
Shared vision – Make sure everyone on the team is aware and understands what you’re fighting for! Other firms will always be selling similar items or services to those you provide. If you’re only competing on price or capabilities, it’s a race to the bottom. You’ll be unstoppable if you can come up with a vision for the firm that inspires your teammates to think they’re fighting for something greater.
Create community – Make certain that the team feels like they’re a part of a greater aim. Create a community in which each other is supported and believes in one another. A group that’s there for one another through thick and thin. I’ve never understood companies that prohibit staff from socializing outside of the workplace. If your crew looks forward to going to work because you’re building an atmosphere where they feel as though they belong to something bigger, you’re on the correct track.
Culture – Having a culture that fits the people you’re recruiting for is crucial to building an unstoppable team. Hire slowly and dismiss quickly. It’s better to have a small team of individuals who love their work than a dozen workers who are just there for the money.

Final thoughts from M. Curtis McCoy
These suggestions for enhancing your management abilities may sound fantastic, but you’ll get nothing out of them if you don’t put what you’ve learned into practice. Start now by scheduling time to read daily and listen to podcasts or audiobooks while driving. Remove toxic individuals from your life and begin spending time with people that inspire you.
